Laconia Public Library, Historic Belknap Mill, and Laconia Historical & Museum Society are pleased to announce the virtual ribbon cutting of their new website "Lakes Region History Online." The public is invited to attend a demonstration of the site on Wednesday, February 10, at 3:00 pm in the library's Laconia Rotary Hall.
Supported by generous grants from Laconia Savings Bank and New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's Corporate Fund, Lakes Region History Online is a collaborative project designed to provide the public with access to Laconia's rich heritage by digitizing, cataloging, and uploading over 450 historic photographs to an accessible website. Images of additional photographs and objects will be added to the digital archive on an ongoing basis, with an ultimate goal to include historical collections from libraries, historical societies, and museums throughout the Lakes Region. Images can be seen and used for educational and personal purposes, and prints of images can be ordered for a fee through the website.
Library, Mill, and Historical Society staff will be on hand to show the public how the website functions and how to conduct historical and genealogical research. See if you can help us identify people, places and events in some of our photos. For more information about this program, please call either Randy Brough at 524-4775, John Moriarty at 524-8813, or Jenna Carroll-Plante at 527-1278. |
